The 26 Bells

Vora stepped through the door. The bells went through as well and flitted through the air. Once they had both entered the realm, the light died down to reveal a landscape. Honestly, it wasn’t much. The only colors were the faded blue of the sky, as if it were a blanket that had been washed many, many times. The ground and bits of scrubby brush were both a green, dark enough to be mistaken for black. A dark bloodred-colored bird swept through the open air. Coo-coo-coo cuwee cuwee. It called. Vora swung her head this way and that, trying to get a glimpse of everything. The bells fluttered ahead of her. Come now,They called. Let us find Roe.
