Book review: Chains

Laurie Halse Anderson is by far one of my favorite authors. She plays with your emotions like a rag doll being thrown about the room. Chains is yet another of her books on my highly recommended list. Chains will shock you like no other. In the sentences she spins about Isabel, the main character, she will have you in a trance with details of a slave life in the revolutionary war. Chains, and the books that follow in the series, will defy your knowledge of freedom and all that entail in war. I beg of you, read this. Do you truly understand the capacity of cruelty?
