What I’ve been listening to lately

I’ve decided to recreate an old blog post, but update it with some fresh material.

  • Favorite popular song on the radio: Right now I’m a big fan of Selena Gomez’s feel-good vibes, so I’d have to say Kill ’em with kindness is my current favorite.
  • Favorite newly discovered song: Young and beautiful by Lana Del Ray. One of my friends told me about this song a couple days ago and I became obsessed with it almost overnight!
  • Favorite album: 25 by Adele! I was a fan of her music for several years before, but then last Christmas when I got 25, that admiration skyrocketed. I love each and every song on this album, and I’d totally recommend it if you’re into this type of music.
  • Favorite old song: Starlight by Muse. Much of my music taste was shaped and developed by my dad’s music taste, and this is just one of those songs that I really enjoy.
  • Favorite new band: DNCE. Cake by the ocean is a fantastic upbeat song, and Toothbrush still has the same feeling, but with a bit more romance.

Perception

What is it that counts

     in this forsaken world?

I’d  like to think

     it is the knowledge,

     the wit, heart and soul

But maybe it is the image

     quite possibly, the beaut

     would reign over

     the dreamer…

Then I think of

     what caliber have I achieved?

What is my sole

     purpose, my worth?

The dreams, the thoughts

     my mind forever un placid,

     unstable

Do I count?

Is anyone ever

     really sure of

     themselves?

Or do we just

     appear so?

If we do, what

     is then so powerful

     about one’s image?

What makes it more

     worthy than one’s mind?

And, why?

This time for good.

Ok, so I know it’s been tough keeping up this blog for the past couple months. In fact, it’s even been hard going through my wordpress reader and looking at all your lovely blogs and posts and things, but I’ve finally done it, and now I’m moving on to this. Since I’ve put it on my summer bucket list and been meaning to do it ever since January (maybe even before that) I’m going to get this blog up and running again, this time hopefully for good (or at least until school starts up again). I’ve got more Vora stories to write, poetry to post, and sketches and photography to share. Enjoy!

Love, MK

Sketches

Many stories have filled my head lately. I’ve sorted them out by sketching the characters, outfits, scenery and other things. There are more on the way.

What I’ve been listening to lately

Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of Christina Perri. I know, you’re probably thinking, who is that?, well check out these songs and you’ll understand. I absolutely love her voice and the lyrics she comes up with. These are from her albums Head or Heart and Lovestrong.

Human. Now, you may have heard of this one. If you have and you don’t like it, than you can just ignore the rest of this list.

Jar of Hearts. This is a great example of her poetic skills (what I mean is her lyrics).

A Thousand Years. Absolutely gorgeous. The feeling I get from this song is a sad sort of relief, happy but tired at the same time. This also shows her amazing artistry through the way she strings her words together and the way she launches them from her lips in rich tones.

Arms and The Words I haven’t listened to as much as the others, but still adore.

I hope you listen to these once for me. I would love to know what you think of them.

Waiting

They click their tongues in the next room over.

Waiting.

A hushed voice.

Where is she?

I long for the scent of lilac, my favorite, to cover the stench of hatred.

The shadows are my friend.

Just wall, I think, between us.

The chair creaks as one of them sits.

Waiting.

A insistent whisper.

She’s got to be here.

A taste of fresh spring water, sunshine on my face, the embrace of my mother, anything.

Anything to give me strength.

I’m just hiding; waiting.

Wonderings

I wonder what it would be like

to stretch out my arms

touch the sky, the stars.

Melt in the wind’s embrace.

Love harder than ever before.

To go on a journey,

a long journey,

and come back home

and sigh.

To refuse to sink.

To be like a hawk,

clear, brilliant eyes.

Watch my soul

walk beside me

in the moonlight.

To die every day with joy.

To be human.

To wonder.

Today

Today

I had my

first taste

And I flew

to China

And I caught

a snowflake

between my

eyelashes

Climbed a

willow tree

Sang a

sweet song

Ate the fruit

of a blossom

Let the sounds

flow into

my ears

Watched the

sights trickle

on past

Took off the mask

and watched

you gasp

Let it slip

from my vision

Channeled the flow

of hope

Carried a

deep love

Lived a

true life
